Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Roanoke, Virginia

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hour days, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• Unit: 24-bed Telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Patient Focus: Hospitalist Medicine patients, with emphasis on renal and various medical diagnoses; also covers GI, Pulmonary, and other surgical/procedural patients under Hospitalist care
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Start Date: ASAP preferred

Required Experience & Skills

• Epic electronic health record (EHR) experience required
• Ability to care for a diverse patient population with complex medical needs

Certifications Required

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I-9 or attestation
• Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must be within 100 miles of facility)
• E-Verify or attestation
• Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
• State nursing license verification (NURSYS verification required for RNs)
• Primary source verification within 30 days of start
• Background check (7-year, all locations lived/worked) within 1 year of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
• Employment application and skills checklist
• Education verification of highest earned degree (transcript/diploma may be required)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
• Fit test for masks within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types required)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• TB questionnaire required for all candidates
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (with exemptions allowed)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Pre-start education modules (approx. 7.5 hours) to be completed before start date
• Professional photo for badge (plain background, no selfies or filters)
• Carilion Pain Assessment Expectation signature required for inpatient RNs at this facility
• Fit testing and other facility-specific compliance documents as applicable
• Radiation badges for new candidates are supplied by the facility, not Aya Healthcare

• Candidates must complete all required documentation and compliance steps promptly to avoid delays in start date
• Driver’s license/state ID address must be within 100 miles of the facility or contract will be canceled
• Orientation manual not required for inpatient RNs at all locations as of 7/10/23
