Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Room

Location: Lewisgale Hospital, Pulaski, Virginia
Hospital System: HCA Healthcare (Parent)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
• Number of Beds: 12
• Number of Staff: 25
• Typical Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 1 tech, Clinical Coordinator (7 AM - 3 PM)
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 RN (after 1 AM), Clinical Coordinator (3 PM - 11 PM)
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 (lower acuity in Fast Track area)
• Equipment: Glidescope, bedside ultrasound, EV1000, trauma room, psych safe room
• EMR System: Meditech

Required Skills and Certifications

• Must Have:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • ER Experience
• Preferred:

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)

Typical Procedures

• Triaging and stabilizing patients
• Managing occasional trauma cases
• Caring for sick elderly and occasional sick pediatric patients

Work Environment and Culture

• Fast-paced, driven, outgoing personality preferred
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Unit Policies:

  • Tattoos must not cover more than 50% of exposed area
  • Hair must be a natural color
• Schedule: Rotating weekends and on-call as needed for department coverage
