Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Rochester General Hospital, Rochester Regional Health System, Rochester, New York

Unit & Schedule

• Medical Stepdown Unit (Intermediate Care Unit - IMCU)
• 26 beds, critical care step-down unit
• Patient population: adult, acute care patients requiring specialized care beyond general medical-surgical units
• Continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring for all patients
• Care for patients needing airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated medicated IV infusions
• Multi-disciplinary team approach
• Shifts: 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts

Requirements

• New York RN license in hand
• No local candidates within 75 miles
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for all MS/TELE units
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
• Primary source verification of state license required

Health & Compliance Documents

• Physical exam/health form within 1 year of start
• N95 Fit Mask testing (must be done on-site at Rochester General Hospital, updated annually)
• Negative TB test (PPD or IGRA within 12 months) or Chest X-Ray if history of positive TB
• Immunizations or titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
• Drug testing within 30 days of start date
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination form (required annually)
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of contract start
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required

Background & Verification

• Criminal background check no older than 3 months (felony checks for last 7 years)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM exclusion checks within 3 months and monthly thereafter
• Minimum of 2 employment references
• Current resume/CV required
• Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Education verification from a third party required
• Work history verification of at least two past employments
• State-specific searches including NY Office of Medicaid Inspector General and NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable)
• Fingerprinting required for Mental Health and Long Term Care units (if assigned)

Additional Notes

• Radiation badges are not provided for new candidates; must be supplied by the facility if needed
• Candidates must complete pre-employment compliance and health records attestations prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with critical care step-down experience, strong Epic skills, and the required certifications looking for a travel contract in a tertiary care hospital setting.
