Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Eureka, California
Facility: Providence Saint Joseph Hospital
Hospital System: Providence Health and Services - MSP
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year required
- First-timers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Required
- Floating: Must be willing to float between like units
- Block Schedule: Accommodations possible at manager's discretion
- Locals: Accepted
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Additional certifications may be required depending on unit and specialty.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Health & Safety
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO)
- Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel nurses, updated annually
- Immunizations/Vaccines:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination accepted
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Background & Verification
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering last 7 years of residence/employment
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Employment Application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum 2 professional references from supervisors within last 3 years
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification required)
- Skills Checklist updated annually (as applicable)
Licensing & Certifications Verification
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- State License verification as applicable
- Specialty certifications as required by unit/clinical track
Orientation & Training
- Completion of Providence-specific WorkRamp modules required prior to start, including:
- Core modules for profession
- Specialty-specific modules depending on unit (ER, ICU, L&D, etc.)
- Regional and facility-specific training modules
- Epic training modules required and must be completed within a week of orientation
Additional Notes
- Floating Policy: Acknowledgement required; may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Badge Photo: Passport-style photo required for badge issuance
- Facility provides free parking on first day and assigns parking during orientation
- Facility uses Epic for charting and documentation
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts, hold current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications, and are ready to complete Providence’s required training and compliance documentation.
