Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IR RN)
Location: Rochester, New York
Facility: Rochester General Hospital, The NeuroMedical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: August 12, 2025
Schedule
- 36-hour alternating shifts: Two 8-hour shifts and two 10-hour shifts
- Weekend and On-Call: 5-6 shifts per 4-week period, including one weekend (Friday 5:30 PM to Monday 7:00 AM)
- Must live more than 75 miles from facility (no locals accepted)
- First-time travelers accepted
Licensing & Certifications Required
- New York RN License (must be in hand)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – as required by unit
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State License Verification (Primary source verification within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start)
- NIH Stroke Certification – as required, updated annually
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as required)
- Color Blind Testing (one-time)
- Competency Exam (as required by specialty)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of Rochester Regional Orientation Modules (4-6 hours) prior to start
- Pre-employment compliance attestations and new hire forms
Health Requirements
- Physical Exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit Mask Test (within 1 year, updated annually) – specific mask types accepted; PAPR allowed if failed
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year) or TB Questionnaire annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing (within 30 days of start) covering multiple substances
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or signed declination (deadline December 3)
- Eye Exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
- COVID Vaccination documentation preferred but not required
Background & History Checks
- 7-year Criminal Background Check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- Minimum of 2 employment references
- Employment application and skills checklist (annual)
- Education verification and transcript/diploma as needed
- Work history verification for at least 2 past employments
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
State-Specific Requirements (New York)
- NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable)
- Staff Exclusion List (SEL) check (within 3 months and monthly)
- NYS Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results (for certain units)
- Disciplinary Action Search Results (for certain units)
- Sex Offender Registry Search (within 30 days of start)
