Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Interventional Radiology)
Location: Rochester, New York
Facility: Rochester General Hospital
Hospital System: The NeuroMedical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: August 12, 2025
Position Details
- Specialty: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN)
- Shift: 36 hours alternating schedule
- Two 8-hour shifts and two 10-hour shifts
- Weekend and On-Call: 5-6 shifts per 4-week period, including one weekend (Friday 5:30 PM to Monday 7:00 AM)
- Locals not accepted (must be more than 75 miles from facility)
- First-time travelers accepted
- New York nursing license must be in hand
- Recent Interventional Radiology experience required
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as required by unit
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – as required by unit
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start
- NIH Stroke Certification – as required by unit, updated annually
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – as required by profession
- Color Blind Testing (one-time)
- Competency Exam – as required by profession/specialty
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of Rochester Regional orientation modules (approx. 4-6 hours) prior to start
- Pre-employment compliance attestations and new hire forms
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific acceptable mask types)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline December 3)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation preferred but not required
Background & Compliance Checks
- 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start (includes SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification, eligibility to work)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- Minimum of 2 employment references
- Employment application required
- Annual skills checklist
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
- Transcript/diploma verification if education verification not on file
- Work history verification for at least 2 past employments
- Academic verification from third party required
State-Specific Requirements (New York)
- NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable) within 3 months of start
- Staff Exclusion List (SEL) check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- Fingerprint results for certain units (Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, LTC) – check if applicable
- Disciplinary action search results for certain units – check if applicable
- Sex Offender Registry search within 30 days of start
This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology RNs who hold a current New York license and are ready for a travel assignment at Rochester General Hospital.
