    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Tracy, California
    Facility: Sutter Health Tracy Community Hospital
    Hospital System: Sutter Health - MSP
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    • Must hold a valid California RN License
    • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (provider level)
    • Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
    • Must be comfortable caring for both newborns and delivered mothers

    Required Certifications

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only; must be Instructor or Advanced Provider Course
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Typically required for Labor & Delivery; AWHONN certification valid for 2 years
    • CCRN (Critical Care RN) – Verify by position
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Valid for 4 years
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – May be completed onsite during orientation
    • NIH Stroke Certification – Verify by position
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Verify by position
    • Tech Cert Verification (National) – Required within 30 days of start
    • State License Verification – Primary source online verification within 30 days of start
    • NURSYS Verification – Required within 30 days for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
    • Additional certifications may be required depending on the specific role

    Competencies

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
    • Competency Exam with minimum passing score of 80% (or Angoff score if higher)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required for some Telemetry units)

    Facility-Specific Requirements

    • Review and sign facility documents prior to start, including:
      • Job Description
      • Standards of Business Conduct
      • Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
      • General Regulatory Orientation for Contracted Workers
      • Dress Code Policy (specific to Sutter Health Tracy Community Hospital)
      • Vendor Training and Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions)
      • Overpayment Refund Policy (2024 and 2025 versions)
      • Request for Religious Accommodation Form (if applicable)
    • Personal or Auto Insurance required only for Home Health or driving positions

    Health and Immunization Requirements

    • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start; must indicate cleared for work or specify work limitations
    • Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year; must be renewed annually (exceptions apply)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Adult TDAP within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years
    • TB Screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2 PPDs (1 within 1 year, 2nd within 90 days)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive IGG titer or vaccination series; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Positive IGG titer, series of 3 vaccines, or signed declination
    • Varicella: Positive IGG titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months; marijuana excluded due to CA law
    • Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30); declination accepted with mask requirement in patient care areas
    • Color Blind Exam: In-person exam required if applicable
    • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required prior to start and annually (exceptions apply)

    Background and History Checks

    • 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including aliases, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3 screening required and updated annually
    • Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
    • Employment and education verifications required; official transcripts/diplomas accepted if verification attempts unsuccessful
    • References required by Aya Healthcare (not by Sutter Health)
    • Sex Offender Search required within 90 days of start
    • Pending background check attestation may be accepted on a case-by-case basis (not accepted at certain facilities)

    Additional Notes

    • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and complete required documentation prior to start
    • Religious exemptions for vaccines and facial hair (PAPR) require approval and specific documentation
    • Some certifications and competencies must be verified or completed within 30 days of start
    • Candidates may be required to complete some training onsite during orientation

    This position is ideal for RNs with experience in maternal and newborn care who meet the certification and health requirements and are comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
