Job Opportunity: 5th South Pediatrics Unit

Location: Lumberton, North Carolina
Facility: UNC Health Southeastern

Unit Information

• Beds: 15
• Patient Types: Adults and Pediatrics (experience and comfort required)
• Patient Ratios: 1:6

Experience & Eligibility

• Required Experience: 2-3 years
• First-time travelers: Accepted
• Travel restrictions: Cannot live within 75 miles of the facility
• Permanent staff: Must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

Certifications Required

• BLS
• PALS
• NCI
• ACLS

Skills

• Experience with both adult and pediatric patients
• Additional skills discussed during interview

Unit Support

• Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• Responds to codes and Rapid Response Team (RRT)
• Crash cart checks performed regularly
• Intensivist available within 10 minutes at night
• House Supervisor available 24/7

Technology & Equipment

• EPIC electronic charting system
• BD Alaris IV Pumps
• Omnicell medication dispensing system
• Central pulse oximetry monitoring

Orientation

• 1 day hospital orientation including EPIC training/testing
• 2 shifts in department with a preceptor

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No call required
• Holiday rotation shared with other staff
• Time off requires manager approval
