Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (SSDU RN)
Location: Rochester, New York
Facility: Rochester General Hospital, The NeuroMedical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
Start Date: September 2, 2025
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Candidate Requirements:
- Must have a valid New York RN license in hand
- Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility (no locals accepted)
- First-time travelers are accepted
Required Certifications & Licenses
- NY State RN License (Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start)
- ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
- PALS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) as required by unit
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual update as required)
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start)
- Tech Cert Verification (if required within 30 days of start)
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as required)
- Color Blind Testing (one-time requirement)
- Competency Exam (as required by specialty)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of Rochester Regional Orientation Modules (approx. 4-6 hours) prior to start
- Completion of Pre-Employment Compliance and Health Records Attestations
- New Hire Form
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit Mask Test (annual; specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year) or TB Questionnaire annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series completion, or declination)
- Varicella (titer, vaccines, or documented history)
- Drug Testing (within 30 days of start; includes multiple substances)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Eye Exam (Snellen test within 1 year)
- COVID-19 Vaccination documentation preferred but not required
Background & Employment Verification
- 7-year Criminal Background Check (including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender checks) within 3 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks (within 3 months and monthly thereafter)
- HHS/OIG checks (within 3 months and monthly thereafter)
- Minimum of 2 employment references
- Employment Application required
- Annual Skills Checklist
- Education Verification (third-party academic verification required)
- Work History Verification (at least 2 past employments verified)
- Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation if applicable
- Transcript/Diploma if no education verification on file
State-Specific Requirements (New York)
- NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable, within 3 months)
- NYS Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results (for certain units)
- Disciplinary Action Search Results (for certain units)
- NY Sex Offender Registry Search (within 30 days of start)
- NY Medicaid Exclusion List check (within 3 months and monthly)
