Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Oncology)
Location: Seattle, Washington

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must have at least 2 years of oncology experience with OCN certification (required).
- Care for Medical Surgical Oncology patients including Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma (MM).
- Involvement in clinical trials, CART therapy, and Stem Cell Transplant.
- Experience with Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), General Hematology/Oncology.

- Chest Tube Set-up and Care
- CPAP/BiPAP management
- Procedure Sedation
- Tracheostomy Care
- Blood and Blood Products Administration
- Use of Cooling/Warming Blankets
- Management of Drains, Feeding Tubes, Fistulas
- PCA Pumps, PICC/Central Lines, Port-A-Cath/Vascular Device Access and Care
- Syringe Pumps
- Wound Vac management
- Administration of Heparin, Insulin, Lasix
Licensure & Certification Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (Washington compact license accepted at all Swedish facilities).
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required.
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
- Chemotherapy certification (CHEMO)
- Other certifications as required by unit or specialty (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, CPI, IV Certification).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
- Social Security Card (for WA state OBRA search if applicable).
- I9 Attestation.
- E-Verify Attestation.
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually.
- Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health documents:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted.
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination during flu season.
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination (required if onsite).
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024.
Orientation & Training Requirements
- Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core Path Modules relevant to profession and region.
- Specialty Path Modules for oncology or related specialties.
- Annual Regulatory Requirements modules.
- EPIC training modules required for candidates in Oregon, Spokane, and some WA locations.
- Badge photo (passport style with neutral background) required for badge issuance.
- Floating Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
Additional Notes
- Candidates previously employed at other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible for travel contracts if separated for at least 3 months.
- Active compact license holders are honored at all Swedish facilities.
- References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment required.
This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with strong clinical skills in hematology/oncology and transplant care, who are comfortable working in a travel/contract role within a large healthcare system.
