Description
Job Opportunity: CT Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Kodiak, Alaska
Facility: Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center
Hospital System: Providence Health and Services - MSP
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3x12 hour evening shifts (Friday-Sunday)
Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks)
Job Requirements
- Experience: New graduates accepted; first-time travelers accepted
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT-CT (Computed Tomography)
- ARRT-R (Radiography)
- Skills Required:
- Adult Acute Care
- Emergency Room (ER) experience
- On-call: Yes
- Weekend Work: Yes
- Floating: Must be willing to float within scope to cover X-ray when needed
- Locals: Not accepted (candidate’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: Based on request

Housing and Vehicle
- Housing Provided: Yes
- Typically 1-bedroom apartments
- Available no earlier than 72 hours before contract start and no later than 24 hours after contract end
- Pets not allowed
- Housing usually accommodates only the traveler; additional family members require approval
- Traveler responsible for cleaning housing upon departure (or fees apply)
- Vehicle Provided: Yes
- Facility arranges rental or facility-owned vehicle for use during assignment
- Available same timeframe as housing (72 hours before start to 24 hours after end)
- Only traveler may operate the vehicle
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required
- Personal insurance must cover rental cars
- Vehicle use limited to “around town” within 30-mile radius; no off-road use
- Vehicle must be returned clean and with a full tank of gas
- Tire chains available at traveler’s expense
- Vehicle must be returned during time off and reissued upon return
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Background Check: Within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024
- Immunizations: TDAP, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B (or declination), Varicella, Flu vaccine (seasonal), COVID-19 vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Respirator medical clearance for travel starts after 2/5/2024
- Licenses and Certifications:
- State license verification as applicable
- NURSYS verification for RNs
- Other certifications as required by specialty and facility
- References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates to verify relevant degrees or certifications
- Skills Checklists: Required annually for applicable units
Training and Modules
- Completion of Providence Health and Services required WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
- Core modules for caregivers
- Specialty-specific modules for ER, L&D, leadership roles, etc.
- Regional and facility-specific modules as assigned
- Epic electronic health record training modules required
- Compliance with float policy acknowledging possible assignment to other Providence facilities nearby
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be willing to float to other units as needed
- Housing and vehicle use policies are strict regarding timing, cleaning, and authorized users
- This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment length
- New graduates and first-time travelers are welcome to apply
