Travel RN Opportunity – Neurology Telemetry Unit
Location: Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri
Hospital System: Mercy Health
Unit: Neurology 6C (Telemetry)
Position Details
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry Specialty
- Employment Type: Travel
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be specified)
- Weekend Hours: As required by facility
- Call Requirements: None
- Licensure: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- NIHSS (must be obtained prior to start if not already held)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year inpatient telemetry nursing
- Preferred Experience: 1 year inpatient neurology nursing
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 32
- Patient Ratios: Vary by shift (Day: 1:5-1:6, Night: 1:6-1:7) – ratios not guaranteed
- Patient Population: Neurology, Medical, Medical Telemetry
- Equipment Used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
- Float Requirements: Rotational float within the unit
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Monitor and coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
- Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
- Care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities
- Adhere to Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Stand and walk for most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and shifts as needed

- Determined, decisive, and flexible
- Competent in drug titration
- Experience in inpatient telemetry nursing, preferably neurology
Additional Notes
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
- Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission
- Time off requests (RTO) have specific guidelines and restrictions
