Travel RN Opportunity – Neurology Telemetry Unit

Location: Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry Specialty
• Employment Type: Travel
• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be specified)
• Weekend Hours: As required by facility
• Call Requirements: None
• Licensure: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (American Heart Association only)
  • NIHSS (must be obtained prior to start if not already held)
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year inpatient telemetry nursing
• Preferred Experience: 1 year inpatient neurology nursing

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 32
• Patient Ratios: Vary by shift (Day: 1:5-1:6, Night: 1:6-1:7) – ratios not guaranteed
• Patient Population: Neurology, Medical, Medical Telemetry
• Equipment Used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
• Float Requirements: Rotational float within the unit

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Monitor and coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
• Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
• Care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities
• Adhere to Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Stand and walk for most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
• Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor
• Flexibility to work varying schedules and shifts as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Determined, decisive, and flexible
• Competent in drug titration
• Experience in inpatient telemetry nursing, preferably neurology

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
• Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission
• Time off requests (RTO) have specific guidelines and restrictions
