Required Certifications (Must be current and verified)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian equivalent
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian equivalent
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian equivalent
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AAP, AHA, or Canadian equivalent
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
  • National Tech Certification Verification (as applicable)
  • State License Verification (non-RN/LPN allied professionals)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • IV Certification (if applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)

Note: Certifications required depend on specialty and unit; verify with clinical track or unit directives.


Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing (unit-specific, if requested)
  • Competency Exams relevant to profession/specialty
  • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or EFM certification for L&D RNs (effective 9/30/2024)
  • Medication Aide exam for CNAs in LTC specialty at specific Oregon Assisted Living facilities

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO)
  • Fit Mask test (annual, travel only)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination (Alaska placements require full series and titer)
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer or declination
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests, no THC included)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine during flu season or declination
  • COVID-19 Vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (annual for travel, required for patient-facing roles)

Background and Compliance

  • Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in comparable specialty/setting (6 months for CNAs)
  • Employment Application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
  • Skills Checklists (annual, as applicable)
  • Education Verification (required for all candidates)
  • Radiation Badge issued by facility if applicable

Facility-Specific and Regional Requirements

  • Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp LMS modules prior to start, including:
    • Core Modules by profession and region
    • Specialty-specific modules for ER, L&D, Leadership roles
    • Regional Core and Specialty modules for Oregon and other Providence regions
    • Annual Regulatory Modules (approx. 3.5 hours)
  • Epic training modules completion required for charting system access
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
  • Floating Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance

  • This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment length.
  • No on-call, weekend, or block schedule requirements.
  • The position is at a large, teaching, short-term acute care hospital with 536 staffed beds.
