Job Opportunity: RN Surgery - Long Term Assignment (LTA)
Location:

Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgery
- Employment Type: Long Term Assignment (13 weeks)
- Shift:
- Primarily 10-hour shifts (05:30-16:00 or 07:30-18:00)
- Variable start times depending on volume (may start at 10:00)
- Call Requirements:
- 1 weeknight call per week (20:00-07:30)
- Every 4th-5th weekend (Saturday 06:30 to Sunday 06:30)
- Holidays as needed, rotating with regular staff
- Experience Required:
- Pre-op and PACU experience
- Additional Info:
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles
- Use of EPIC electronic health record system
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (AHA required)
- ACLS
- PALS
- Current nursing license with Nursys verification (within 30 days prior to start)
- License/Certificate primary source verification (within 30 days prior to start)
- Driver’s License/State ID (valid, must match address requirements)
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
Health & Immunizations:
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history (no declinations)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional but recommended during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); mask required if declined
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be done onsite
- TB Testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; chest X-ray if positive
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to start, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Training & Testing:
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission topics) with minimum 80% score
- Ascension EKG Exam (passing score 80%, two attempts max)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% or national benchmark, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Epic Test-Out and Training Checklist with signed attestation
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, updated annually)
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip Pre-Hire Modules
Background & Verification:
- Criminal Background Check including SSN Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (updated annually)
- EPLS check within 90 days of start
- Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually)
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start)
- Professional References: At least two required prior to first assignment

- Ascension Badge Photo (headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions
