Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Home Health RN)
Location: Torrance, California
Facility: Torrance Memorial Medical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Home Health)
- Caseload: 5-6 patients per day
- Hours: 40 hours per week guaranteed
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- Patient Type: Acute patient care
- Weekend Requirement: Work weekends every 4 weeks
- On-call: Yes
- Territory: Los Angeles County, 5-20 miles radius (local radius rule 50 miles)
- Locals Accepted: Yes

Key Requirements
- Recent OASIS Experience: Required
- Candidates must pass an OASIS exam prior to interview eligibility.
- Review Oasis E11, including Mobility (G-Section, GG Section, M18).
- High Volume Caseload Experience: Must have experience managing high volume caseloads.
- EMR System: MatrixCare EMR preferred.
- Mileage Reimbursement: Per IRS standard.
Certifications & Training Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all travelers (AHA or AHA RQI accepted).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for certain units; check unit job description.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for Pediatrics and related units; check unit job description.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): Required for applicable units; AHA/AAP Advanced Learner required.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred for ER RNs.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for Labor & Delivery RNs.
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for certain units; must be updated annually.
- Harassment Prevention Training: Required for all candidates (including subcontractors).
- Competency Exams: Specialty proof required, updated every 3 years with a minimum score of 80%.
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Not required by facility but collected per Aya standard.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for specific units (e.g., Cath Lab, PICU).

Health & Immunization Requirements
- Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start for all onsite candidates (specific mask types required).
- Tdap Vaccine or Declination: Required.
- Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray: Required within 12 months prior to start; special rules for past positive TB.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Immune titer, vaccine, or signed declination required.
- Hepatitis B: Immune titer, vaccine series, or signed declination required.
- Varicella: Immune titer, vaccine, or signed declination required.
- Drug Testing: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually (specific panels required).
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination: Required for 2024-2025 season with strict deadlines; no exemptions accepted after deadline.
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but documentation of Monovalent vaccination or declination form must be completed.
Background & Employment History
- Background Check: Standard check within 1 year of start, updated annually; includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender, and DMV search for Home Health/Hospice RNs.
- References: Two supervisor/manager references within 1 year of start required (one from current or most recent employer).
- Employment Application: Resume or application covering all cities and states lived/worked in past 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
- Education Verification: Required for highest degree unless high school is highest level; diploma or transcript may be accepted as placeholder.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM Checks: Must be run within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter.
This position is ideal for experienced Home Health RNs with recent OASIS experience, comfortable managing a high volume caseload, and able to meet the comprehensive certification, health, and compliance requirements of Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
