Travel RN - Pediatric ICU (PICU)
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Pediatric ICU (PICU)
- Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours
- Number of Openings: 1
- Weekend Hours: As required by facility
- Call Requirements: No call unless sent home during shift due to low census; must be available until end of scheduled shift for possible admits
Licensure & Certifications
- Required Licensure: Current RN license eligible or licensed in Missouri
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) from AHA only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or PCAR (Pediatric Care After Resuscitation)
- Preferred Certification: ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of PICU experience post-orientation
- Competencies: Must be ventilator competent
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

- Unit: Pediatric ICU (PICU) with float to NICU, Pediatric Medical Floor, or Pediatric ED as needed

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Work in a clean, air-conditioned environment
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Information
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1; declinations not accepted
- Dress code: Black scrubs; pediatric-appropriate t-shirts allowed with black scrub pants; other attire not acceptable
- Must demonstrate strong communication skills and clinical expertise in PICU nursing
- Responsible for coordinating patient care, maintaining patient confidentiality, and adhering to nursing standards and facility policies
Summary
This is a 13-week travel RN assignment in a Pediatric ICU setting requiring at least 1 year of PICU experience with ventilator competency. The role involves night shifts with a 36-hour workweek, caring for critically ill pediatric patients with varied diagnoses. Certifications in BLS, PALS, and trauma care are mandatory, with ENPC preferred. The position requires flexibility to float to related pediatric units based on patient volume.
