Travel RN - Med Surg

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical (Med Surg)
• Shift: Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
• Number of Openings: 2
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
• Call Requirements: None
• Float Requirements: May be floated to other units depending on staffing needs

Licensure & Certifications

• Required Licensure: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
• Required Certifications: BLS (AHA only)
• Preferred Certifications: ACLS (AHA only)

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in Med Surg, inpatient only
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Unit & Patient Information

• Unit Type: Med/Surg
• Number of Beds: 15 (with 15 more under construction)
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6-7 on nights (not guaranteed)
• Equipment Used: Nova Meters (blood glucose), Alaris IV pump, Kangaroo pumps, SCD machine
• EMR System: EPIC

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Utilize nursing process consistent with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
• Provide care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
• Maintain professional accountability and evaluate care effectiveness

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• May work varying schedules and shifts as needed
• Exposure to blood and body fluids (high risk)
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
• Dress code: Black scrubs, no open-toed shoes
