Job Opportunity: RN PACU - Cleveland, Ohio

Job Description

  • Role: Recovery nurse for the holding room
  • Patient focus: Post care for catheterization and electrophysiology patients
  • Procedures involved: Structural Heart, Endovascular, Devices, Ablations, Complex coronary interventions
  • Skills: Familiarity with closure devices and patient recovery from general anesthesia, MAC, and moderate sedation

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association only)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • Valid permanent RN license (no temporary licenses accepted)
  • License/Certificate Verification (must be rerun every 2 years with RN license renewal)

Required Health & Safety Credentials

  • COVID-19 Vaccine (preferred, not required)
  • MMR: Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster protocol
  • Fit Test: Completed within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of full or partial series, signed declination, or positive titers within 15 years
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within 5 years and current TB questionnaire (if applicable)
  • Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster protocol
  • Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Annual Negative PPD (if 2-step PPD not done within past year)
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct-Mar) or approved medical/religious exemption
  • 2-Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Negative reads within last 6 months (annual requirement)
  • Physical/Health Statement: Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to work without restrictions
  • Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (no instant tests, lab report required)

Professional & Background Requirements

  • UHS I-9 Attestation: Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Ohio Fingerprints: BCI&I check and FCRA-compliant national criminal background check (requirements vary based on length of Ohio residency)
  • Education Verification: Highest level of education verified; international education requires equivalency documentation
  • Employment Verification: Verification of employment within last 5 years through third-party
  • Criminal Background Check: Completed within 6 months prior to start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal sweep, and NSO
  • OIG Search: Completed within 6 months prior to start (initial hire only)
  • SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening: Completed within 6 months prior to start (initial hire only)
  • Social Security Trace and NSO (if not included in background check)
  • UHS NSO (if not included in background check)
  • UHS National Database Criminal Background Check (for Ohio residents, optional)
  • UHS Module Completion Certificate: Completion of safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance

Competency & Skills Testing

  • UHS Skills Checklist: Clinical skill-specific checklist completed within 1 year prior to start (initial hire only)
  • UHS Competency Exam: Department-specific exam with minimum 80% score, completed within 1 year prior to start
  • UHS Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required, completed within 1 year prior to start (initial hire only)

  • Resume including education and work history
  • Two professional references within last 2 years
