Travel RN - PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)

Location: Wichita, Kansas

Unit Information

  • Unit: PICU (Level II Trauma)
  • Beds: 15
  • Staff: 38
  • Typical Patient Ratio: 2:1
  • Shift Coverage:
    • Day Shift: Intensivist, RN, Desk Tech, RT, Dietary, Case Management
    • Night Shift: Intensivist, RN, Desk Tech, RT
  • Equipment: General Cardiac Rhythm (CR) Monitoring, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Triple Lumen Catheter (TPT) placements
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Job Requirements

  • Certifications: BLS, PALS
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse License
  • Skills Required:
    • Works well under pressure
    • Strong assessment skills
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with CRRT
    • APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) knowledge

Typical Procedures

  • IV starts
  • Blood draws
  • TPT placement

Work Environment & Culture

  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Supportive of training on new skills by physicians
  • Collaborative environment within a teaching hospital

Contract Length

This position offers the opportunity to work in a Level II Trauma PICU with a skilled multidisciplinary team and access to advanced pediatric critical care technology.
