Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER RN) - Rochester, NY
Position Details
- Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
- Location: Rochester, New York
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 4x12 hour shifts, Day/Night rotation with potential for straight nights
- Start Date: November (no earlier start dates accepted)
- License Requirement: Must have a valid New York RN license in hand
- Travelers: First-time travelers accepted
- Locals: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility
- Holiday Availability: Must be available to work holidays
Required Credentials & Certifications
- Licenses:
- New York RN License (primary source verification within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (for RN) within 30 days of start
- Certifications (AHA only, as required by unit):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Other:
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (required)
- Tech Certification Verification (if applicable, within 30 days of start)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if required by unit, updated annually)
Background & Verification Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- HHS/OIG check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees accepted)
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable (CGFNS full report, WES, or EEE of America)
- Transcript/Diploma if education verification is not on file
- Work history verification of at least 2 past employments
- References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates only
Health & Compliance Requirements (Must be completed within 5 days of contract signing)
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit mask test (within 1 year, updated annually; acceptable masks specified)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- TB Questionnaire (required in lieu of annual TB test renewal)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Rubeola (Measles): positive titer or 2 vaccines (age exemption if born before 1957)
- Mumps: positive titer or 2 vaccines (age exemption if born before 1957)
- Rubella: positive titer or 1 MMR/Rubella vaccine (age exemption if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, completed series, or declination (additional requirements for dialysis)
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (if booked within 30 days)
- Seasonal vaccinations/documentation:
- Flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline December 3)
- COVID vaccination documentation preferred but not required
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year, not required annually
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as required)
- Color Blind Testing (required once, not annually)
- Competency Exam (as required by specialty/profession)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of facility-specific modules (approx. 4-6 hours)
- Completion of pre-employment compliance attestations and new hire forms
State-Specific Requirements (New York)
- NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable, within 3 months of start)
- NYS Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results (for certain units)
- Disciplinary Action Search Results (for certain units)
- Sex Offender Registry Search (within 30 days of start)
- NY Medicaid Exclusion List check (within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter)
This position requires strict adherence to licensing, certification, background checks, health screenings, and compliance documentation. Candidates must be prepared to complete all health and compliance requirements promptly after contract signing.
