Description

Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: January 5 (Non-negotiable)
Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week


Key Requirements & Credentials

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Nursing License: Must have primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Nursys Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start.
  • BLS Certification: Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.

Health & Immunizations

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer. No declinations accepted. If negative, two doses four weeks apart required.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider. No declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years. No declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31). Exemptions accepted but mask required at all times.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: 1st PPD within 1 year, 2nd within 30 days of start, or negative IGRA within 90 days. Annual TB questionnaire required. Positive TB requires chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start; updated annually.
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.

Testing & Exams

  • Ascension Medical Surgical Exam: Must be completed prior to start; minimum 80% score; only 2 attempts allowed; updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly; minimum 80% score; only 2 attempts allowed.
  • Ascension EKG Exam: New edition as of Dec 1, 2023; passing score of 80% required; only 2 attempts allowed.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required prior to start.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start; updated annually.
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start; updated annually; retesting required if break in service > 90 days.

Professional Requirements

  • Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
  • Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; completed within 30 days of first assignment; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
  • Employment Verification: Past 7 years; updated annually or if break in service > 90 days.
  • Education Verification: Relevant to clinical work; completed within 90 days of start; updated if break in service > 90 days.
  • Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current, match address on file, and show front/back.

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite prior to start.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of 6 hours pre-hire training with attestation uploaded by agency.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updated with extensions.

Additional Notes

  • Flu season mask requirement applies if influenza vaccine is declined.
  • Some optional documents and evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for onboarding.
  • All exams and certifications have specific update and retake policies.
  • Compliance with all credentialing and onboarding requirements is mandatory prior to assignment start.
