Travel RN Opportunity - Kansas City, Missouri
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Employment Type: Travel
- Location: Kansas City, Missouri
- Unit: 6 East Ortho/Trauma
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 23
- Patient Ratios: 1:4, 1:5
- Staffing: Unit Secretary and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available
- Equipment: Traction, fixators, cooling equipment
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, including 3 weekend shifts per schedule period
- Floating Policy: Contract staff float first; may float to other MedSurg units (General MedSurg, Nephrology, Neuro/Trauma)
- Patient Experience: Bedside shift report and hourly rounding required
- Certifications: Level 1 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center
Required Qualifications
- Licenses: Registered Nurse License (RN)
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Advanced Skills: Orthopedic experience, telemetry, NIH stroke scale knowledge preferred
- Procedures on Unit: Post-op knee, hip, and shoulder replacements; trauma patients; some neuro overflow cases (NIH helpful)
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs required

- The unit emphasizes bedside shift reports and hourly rounding to enhance patient care.
- Experience with orthopedic and trauma patients is essential.
