Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel Position
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide Speech Language Pathology services including assessment, treatment planning, implementation, follow-up, and discharge planning for patients. Support clinical department activities such as program development, operations, performance improvement, and supervision of students and volunteers.
Patient Population
- General medical, stroke, neurological, orthopedic, bedside patients
- Mostly adults, with some interaction with NICU patients
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities for inpatients and outpatients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable goals involving patient/family participation
- Maintain documentation including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries
- Participate in patient care and family conferences, in-service programs, and departmental meetings
- Counsel patients, families, and involved individuals regarding evaluation, care, and treatment
- Coordinate and supervise Speech Language Pathology student and volunteer programs
- Assist with orientation, scheduling, and staff supervision to ensure quality patient coverage
- Support and participate in performance improvement activities
- Maintain awareness of community resources for appropriate referrals
- Identify and provide educational opportunities for self, department, and community
- Adapt patient care methods to meet age-specific, developmental, cultural, and individual needs
- Foster professional relationships with medical staff, physicians, and referral sources
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution
- Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year as outlined by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Licensed Speech Language Pathologist by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (Texas)
- Certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC required)
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment and annual health screenings
Work Schedule
- Full-time, 5 days per week, Thursday through Monday
- 8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Speech Language Pathology specialty required
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
This position requires a licensed and certified Speech Language Pathologist with at least one year of experience, capable of working full-time in a travel role providing care primarily to adult patients with a variety of medical conditions.
