    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Job Details

    • Unit: Float Pool Pod A ICU
    • Shift: Weekends required minimum every other weekend; may exceed to meet unit needs
    • Start Date: Not specified
    • Patient Ratio: 1:2
    • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
    • First-timers Accepted: Yes
    • On-call: No
    • Floating: Required to float between like units; may float to nearby Providence facilities including Providence Mission Laguna
    • Block Schedule: May be accommodated at manager’s discretion
    • Local Radius: 50 miles
    • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
    • Charting System: Epic
    • Parking: Free

    Required Certifications

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only
    • NIH Stroke Certification – Must be current and renewed every 2 years
    • Additional certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM)

    Licensure & Experience

    • Must have a valid California RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
    • Minimum 1 year of relevant ICU experience
    • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

    Background & Compliance Requirements

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
    • Education verification required for all candidates
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
      • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
      • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
    • Fit mask testing required for travel nurses (updated annually)

    Training & Competency

    • Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
      • Core modules for RN profession in California
      • Specialty-specific modules for ICU and float pool roles
      • Annual regulatory and compliance training
    • Epic training modules required and must be completed after Providence access is granted
    • Medication and competency exams as applicable

    Additional Notes

    • Float pool nurses may be required to float to other Providence facilities within a reasonable distance
    • Facility provides free parking
    • Facility staffed beds: 488
    • Scrub color for RNs: Royal Blue

    This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are flexible with weekend shifts and floating between units. The role requires compliance with Providence’s comprehensive credentialing, background, and training requirements.
