Description
Travel RN Step Down Nurse Opportunity
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Specialty: RN Step Down (PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care)
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, or Acute Care.
- Placement on a unit with the greatest need: PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry based on skills.
- Accepts RN with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both).
- Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (AHA certified)
- ACLS (AHA certified)
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start (disciplinary actions require FACIS Questionnaire).
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements).
Required Exams, Training & Competencies
- Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years).
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; completed within a year and updated yearly; minimum 80% score).
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group).
- Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed).
- Ascension Epic Test-Out (training and test results required).
- Ascension Specialty Exam (updated every 3 years; minimum 80% or national benchmark).
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually).
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually).
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation.
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite).
- Ascension Nova StatStrip training.
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment documentation.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Fit Test (preferred prior to start; updated annually).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire.
- Two-step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start.
- Varicella immunity proof or two doses of vaccine (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
Professional Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission.
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and other checks within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
- Post-assignment evaluation (optional).
- Legal documentation for any name changes (optional).
Additional Notes
- Must be willing to complete all required onboarding, testing, and credential verifications prior to or at the start of the assignment.
- Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs.
- Compliance with all Ascension Health policies and procedures is mandatory.
