Job Opportunity: Unit Manager (Registered Nurse - RN)
Location: Colton, California
Employment Type: Temporary

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
- Manage and supervise Assistant Unit Managers, Registered Nurses, and support staff in specialty critical care, specialty care, or non-specialty patient care units.
- Oversee day-to-day unit operations with 24-hour responsibility.
- Full management and budgetary responsibility for the unit.
- Report to Clinical Director II and Associate Chief Nursing Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, assign, review, and evaluate nursing and support staff work; handle disciplinary, hiring, and firing actions.
- Prepare schedules, approve time off, and oversee payroll time and attendance processing.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care assignments based on staff competency and patient needs.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, safety initiatives, infection control, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor patient care quality through clinical rounds and collaborate with physicians and other disciplines.
- Manage unit budget, resource utilization, and control overtime.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards; prepare survey responses and action plans.
- Monitor patient satisfaction and implement improvement strategies.
- Oversee Nurse Educators and staff training, including orientation and ongoing education.
- Ensure preservation of patient rights and privacy; resolve patient complaints and grievances.
- Lead performance improvement projects based on patient data and outcomes.
- Perform professional nursing duties and provide vacation/temporary relief as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years of nursing experience.
- Active certifications and licenses.
- At least 1+ year recent/current supervisory or interim experience in Labor & Delivery.
- MSN or BSN plus a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration.
- NICU experience is a plus.
- Ideal candidate: 5+ years nursing experience with 2+ years supervisory experience in an acute care facility.
- Work history covering at least the last 3 years relevant to the assignment.
- At least 1 supervisor reference (2nd to be obtained during onboarding).
- COVID vaccination card with booster, if applicable.
