Position Details

Unit Information

• Unit: Emergency Department (ER)
• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for behavioral holds in the ED
• Staffing: Techs available; work includes cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage, and unit clerks on days and nights
• Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
• Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must be flexible to float within all ED sections
• Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit

Required Certifications (Must have before start date)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – required within 90 days of hire

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
• Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
• At least 1 year of ER nursing experience
• Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
• Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
• Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED

Advanced Skills & Procedures

• Advanced skills relevant to emergency nursing required (specific procedures not detailed)

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs required
