Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Castro Valley, California

Position Details

• Facility: Acute care setting with neuro ICU focus
• Float Opportunities: May float to Emergency Department (ED), Step Down Unit, or Central Monitoring Department
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
• Patient Ratios: 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in Neuro ICU
• Epic Experience: Required

Licensure & Certifications Required

• California RN License (must be current and in hand)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
• NIH Stroke Certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Preferred
• Additional certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., CCRN, PALS, NRP, CPI)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including alias and county searches
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
• Sex Offender Search required within 90 days of start
• Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
• Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
• References: 2 professional references required for clinical positions

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear candidate for work)
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions)
• Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
• Immunity or vaccination proof for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually

Competency & Skills

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and renewed annually
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit
• ICU RNs may be required to take EKG exam onsite after start
