    Labor & Delivery Nurse Travel Opportunity - California

    Location

    • City: San Bernardino, CA

    Unit Details

    • Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
    • L&D Beds: 14
    • OR Suites: 2 (located on postpartum side)
    • Triage Beds: Triage is done within Labor and Delivery unit
    • Postpartum Beds: 0
    • Average Births: 3-4 per day (approx. 1100 births last year)
    • Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines

    Job Requirements

    • Experience: Minimum 2 years of current Labor & Delivery nursing experience
    • Certifications:
      • Active California RN License
      • BLS (Basic Life Support)
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
      • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
      • Advanced Fetal Monitoring
      • AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
    • Charge Nurse Experience: Must have charge nurse experience

    Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

    • Laboring patients
    • Inductions
    • Cesarean sections
    • Antepartum patients with complications
    • Fetal demises
    • Triage patients 20 weeks gestation or greater

    Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

    • RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
    • Use of pulse oximetry monitors routinely
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) system: Fetal Link integrated with Cerner
    • Monitor Techs present; RNs read strips, especially for patients on magnesium

    Staffing & Support

    • 1 OB Tech available on unit
    • OB/Neonatologist coverage 24/7 in-house
    • Charge nurse usually available and free from other duties
    • No floating required

    Scheduling & Shifts

    • Shift length: 12-hour day shifts
    • Frequency: 3 shifts per week
    • Weekend requirement: 1 weekend every other weekend
    • Holiday requirement: 1 major holiday and 2 minor holidays
    • Call/Standby: 1 on-call shift every 2 weeks
    • Orientation: 1 day unit-specific orientation
    • Scrub color: Light blue scrubs provided each shift

    Contract Length

    • 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
