Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) - Meridian, Idaho
Assignment Details
- Location: Meridian, Idaho
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel assignment)
- Shift: 12-hour evening shifts
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Mix of 12-hour shifts (0730-2000, 1030-2230, 1130-MN, 1330-0200, 1530-0400, 1930-0800)
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 2 weekends (4 days) in 6 weeks
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: Rare, may float to nearby ERs in Boise or Nampa
Unit & Facility Information
- Department: Emergency Room (ER)
- Trauma Level: Level IV (working toward Level III designation)
- STEMI Level: I
- Stroke Level: II
- Beds: 45 total (including 4 hallway beds, 4 vertical rooms, 1 trauma bay, 1 resuscitation bay, 1 cardiac room)
- Fast Track: Yes, vertical space and rapid assessment
- Triage: Separate triage area (travelers do not triage)
- Holding Area: ER holds intermixed within ER
- Psych Rooms: 4 psych/seclusion rooms included in bed count, 1:1 sitters required
- Security: In-house, 24/7, located in ER
- Average Patients per Day: Approximately 170
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2.5 years Emergency Department experience
- Experience from a larger urban hospital preferred
- Trauma experience preferred
- Comfortable managing high acuity patients (ESI Level I) including stroke, STEMI, trauma, abdominal pain
- Pediatric and adult patient care; stabilize and transfer pediatric patients

Staffing & Support
- ER staffed with at least 1 physician and 1 advanced practice provider (APP) per day; up to 6 providers at times
- Charge nurse on each shift (does not take patient assignment)
- Assistant Nurse Manager and Administrative Supervisor present
- CNA support ratio approximately 1:5-9; CNAs perform EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care (no irrigation)
- Respiratory Therapists (RT) present 24/7 managing ABGs, breathing treatments, and equipment
- RNs responsible for reading and interpreting cardiac monitors (SpaceLabs)
- X-Ray and CT available in ER; overflow in main radiology, transport patients unless critical
- Labs drawn by RNs, CNAs, or phlebotomy
Orientation & Dress Code
- One shift of unit-specific orientation after hospital and Epic system orientation
- No specific scrub color required; professional and clean appearance expected
