Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Jackson, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Must hold a valid California RN license
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience (prior travel experience not required)
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Work schedule includes every other weekend
- EPIC experience preferred
- Floating duties may include sitter or helping hands roles if census is low and other departments need assistance
Certifications & Licenses
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or ARC only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): AHA/AAP only, must be Instructor or Advanced Provider Course
- CCRN (Critical Care RN): Verify by position
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Valid for 4 years
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Typically required for Labor & Delivery; AWHONN certification valid for 2 years
- State License: Must provide copy and primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days for RN
- Other certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI)
Background Checks & Screening
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including:
- Social Security Trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide Sex Offender Search (within 90 days of start)
- Education verification (highest level achieved)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment history verification: Full 7 years required with no gaps over 30 days; explanations required for gaps
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear candidate for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titers or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, vaccination series, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only)
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Unit-specific competency exams (e.g., Telemetry for ICU nurses)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some units
Facility-Specific Documents & Orientation
- Candidates must review and sign:

- Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
- General Regulatory Orientation for Contracted Workers
- Vendor Training (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
- Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
- Overpayment Refund Policy (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
- TB Screening Questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
- Religious exemption forms required if applicable for PAPR or vaccine exemptions
Additional Notes
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates (within 3 years)
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
- Floating to other departments may be required based on census and staffing needs
