Travel RN Opportunity – CVICU, Nashville, Tennessee

Position Details

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 16
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2, with 1:1 for certain device patients
• Staffing Support:

  • Free-floating charge nurse available to assist staff
  • Unit secretary and Administrative Care Tech available Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Student Nurse Externs assist with tech duties on variable shifts
• Equipment:

  • Phillips bedside telemetry monitors
  • Hill-Rom beds
  • Alaris IV pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements:

  • 2 weekends per month
  • 1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day)
  • 2 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day)
• Floating Policy: Contract/Travel employees float as needed, typically to other ICUs but may include other floors
• Patient Experience Requirements: None specific

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience
• Advanced skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required
• Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT
• Experience providing care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADs
• Ability to perform procedures such as central line insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and intubations on unit

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Dress Code

• Scrubs in black, red, or galaxy blue
• Scrub jackets or vests only
