Surgical Services OR RN - Ketchum, Idaho

Job Overview

• Position: Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Ketchum, Idaho (small hospital in a resort town)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts (typically 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Call Requirements:

  • Weeknights: Approximately 4 nights per month (3:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Weekends: About 1 full weekend per month (7:00 AM Saturday - 7:00 AM Monday)
  • Holidays: May require holiday call
  • Call Response Time: Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call

Unit Details

• Department: Surgical Services, OR (Floor 2)
• Suites: 4 OR suites plus 1 Endoscopy suite
• Average Cases: 8 cases per day
• Common Cases:

  • Orthopedics (total joints, sports medicine, hands, trauma)
  • General surgery
  • Gynecology (including C-sections)
  • Endoscopy
• Pace: Faster pace with a focus on orthopedic and sports medicine cases, including robotics

Requirements

• Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active Idaho RN license
  • BLS required
  • ACLS recommended
• Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience
  • Strong orthopedic background required
  • Some endoscopy experience needed
  • Must have previous travel nursing experience
• Skills:

  • Scrubbing not required for RNs
  • Must be able to float to endoscopy as OR team covers this area
  • CSTs in the unit have SPD and HLD experience

Orientation & Training

• 5 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Orientation covers unit norms and system values

Work Environment

• Dress Code: Blue scrubs provided, OR shoes required
• Team:

  • Charge Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) present
  • OR techs include CSTs and RNs who scrub
  • Orderlies assist with room turnover and cleaning
• EMR Systems:

  • Epic for general documentation
  • TDOC for instrument tracking
  • ProVation used by providers for endoscopy
