Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
- Night shifts with flexible scheduling as needed
- Must have either:
- 3+ years previous travel experience, or
- 5+ years experience in a large Emergency Department without travel experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Certification
- Ascension MOAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior)
- Current RN license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- License/Certificate Verification within 30 days prior to start
Required Exams, Testing & Competencies
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics) completed within a year, updated yearly, minimum 80% score
- Ascension EKG Exam with passing score of at least 80%
- Ascension Epic Test-Out (EPIC training and test checklist)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (competency in specialty area, minimum 80% or national benchmark)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Ascension Color Vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start
- TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Professional & Onboarding Requirements
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip training
- Ascension Badge Photo (headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
- Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (completed within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
- Employment Verification for past seven years
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation
Additional Notes
- Some optional checklists and documents may be required by unit leadership after onboarding
- Must comply with all Ascension-specific policies and testing requirements
- Floating to other sites within 40 miles may be required based on staffing needs
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs with travel experience or extensive ED background, comfortable working night shifts and flexible schedules, and who meet the comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
