Job Opportunity: MedSurg/Telemetry Nurse (4th Floor)

Location: Prescott, Arizona
Unit: Telemetry - Surgical/Neuro (4th Floor)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

Beds: 48 (two units: 4A and 4B)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
Charge Nurse: Yes, charge nurse does not take patient assignments
Telemetry Monitoring:
- Telemetry monitored remotely
- Tele techs located on 3rd floor read and post strips
- RNs interpret strips and must sign at least once per shift

COVID-19
Respiratory conditions
Gastrointestinal issues
Diabetes
Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)
General, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients

Required Certifications & Skills

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Ability to read basic telemetry strips
Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA preferred
Cerner experience recommended (only one day of orientation)

Clinical Information

RNs are not required to titrate drips
Common set-rate drip: Diltiazem
Respiratory equipment used: BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and some breathing treatments

Scheduling & Shifts

12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Schedules made for 4 weeks at a time
Self-scheduling used but finalized by manager
Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
Holiday requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day during Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving holidays
No call or standby requirement
Floating required: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified

Orientation & Dress Code

Unit-specific orientation: 1 shift on the unit
Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

This position is suitable for nurses comfortable with telemetry monitoring, surgical and neuro patient care, and working in a fast-paced environment with minimal orientation.
