Job Opportunity: RN Oncology (Travel)
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology
- Employment Type: Travel assignment
- Facility: Hospital within a large health system in Wichita, KS
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified
- Nursys Verification: Within 30 days prior to start; disciplinary actions require additional documentation
- Current Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Ascension Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts)
- NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years
- Ascension EKG Exam: Must pass with at least 80%, max 2 attempts; updated as new editions are released
- MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training: Required
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Required for electronic health record proficiency
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually for specialty

- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (done onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip Training (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
- Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters
- Ascension Profile: Resume or professional profile required
- Ascension 2 Professional References: At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Ascension Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
- Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) Check: Run within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service >90 days
- Ascension Education Verification: Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; updated if break in service >90 days
- Ascension Employment Verification: Third-party employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
- Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updated with each extension
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Positive PPD / Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire: Must provide positive IGRA or PPD results, chest x-ray within one year, and completed TB questionnaire; updated annually
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required within 30 days prior to start; updated annually
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start; includes testing for 12 specified drugs; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
Additional Notes
- Some optional checklists and evaluations may be required by the unit leader or post-assignment
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address requirements based on licensing state and assignment location
This position requires thorough credentialing, health screenings, and compliance with the health system’s onboarding and competency standards.
