Job Opportunity: RN Infusion (Outpatient Oncology)

Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide patient-centered care in an outpatient cancer center setting, focusing on chemotherapy infusion.
  • Responsibilities include chemotherapy administration, patient education, care planning, symptom management, and coordination of outpatient services.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care addressing complex oncology patient needs.
  • Practice according to ANA (American Nurses Association) and ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) standards.
  • Operate within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing school required; BSN preferred.
  • If no BSN, 1-2 years of ambulatory oncology experience required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts required.
  • Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) required within 2 years of hire or after 2,000 hours of oncology nursing practice.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and communicate effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and family members.
  • Outpatient chemotherapy infusion experience is mandatory.

Required Credentials & Compliance (Selected Highlights)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Valid RN license with primary source verification (no conditional licenses accepted).
  • Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) within 2 years or 2,000 hours oncology experience.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA preferred).

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • N95 Fit Test within 1 year of start date, updated annually.
  • Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30).
  • TB test documentation within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break.
  • Physician health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if >6 month break.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity strongly preferred.
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred.

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break.
  • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break.
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually.
  • Social Security Number trace as part of background check.

Documentation Required for Submission

  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
  • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above).
  • Skills checklist.
  • Candidate submission coversheet.

Additional Notes

  • Must submit a professional badge photo (color, recent, plain background, no glasses).
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is required.
  • Confirmation of assignment form required for all initial assignments and extensions.
