Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Oklahoma City, OK)
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex under general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data; observe patient conditions and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver competent patient care.
- Communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with coworkers.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.
Education Requirements
- Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing (required).
- BSN or MSN from an accredited program (preferred).
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Advanced Provider or NRP Instructor certification.
