Job Opportunity: RN Step Down (Travel)
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Specialty: RN Step Down (PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care)

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, or Acute Care
- Placement on unit with greatest need: PCU, Med-Surg, or Stepdown based on skills
- Accepts RN with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both)
- Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Current RN License with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
- License/Certificate Verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements)
Required Testing & Competencies
- Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start, updated yearly, minimum 80% score)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed)
- Ascension Epic Test-Out (test results and training checklist with signed attestation)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, completed within one year of start, updated annually)
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire or IGRA test
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within required timeframes
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start (specific mask types required for WI and MI)
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Onboarding & Professional Requirements
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (done onsite)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader)
- Resume/Profile submission
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (completed within 30 days of first assignment, updated annually)
- Employment Verification (third-party for past 7 years, updated annually)
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation (updated with each extension)
- Ascension EPLS (Exclusionary List) check within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Post-assignment evaluation (optional)
- Legal documentation of name change (optional)
Additional Notes
- Must complete FACIS Questionnaire if any disciplinary actions exist
- Traveler must be flexible to float within skill set or to nearby sites as needed
- All required documents and verifications must be uploaded as per onboarding instructions
