Travel RN Opportunity – Progressive Critical Care Unit

Location: Albany, New York

Position Overview

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Unit: Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU)
• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Patient Population & Care Complexity

• Care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients
• Common conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications
• Average patient load: 3 high acuity patients

Required Skills & Competencies

• Epic experience required
• Competent in care of medical and surgical populations
• ACLS certification required
• Advanced hemodynamics knowledge including pressor usage per titration protocols
• Experience with antihypertensive drips, sedative and narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics
• Familiarity with arterial line (a line), central venous pressure (CVP), external ventricular drain (EVD), orthopedic traction, and infection prevention protocols
• Experience with HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and oxypendent devices
• Nurses with large scale adult PCU and community hospital ICU experience tend to perform well

Additional Requirements

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Competency test required within 24 hours of submission
• Local candidates from certain counties are no longer eligible as of 1/11/2024

This role is ideal for experienced critical care nurses comfortable managing complex adult patients in a high-acuity PCU setting with advanced monitoring and treatment modalities.
