Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position in the Emergency Room specialty.
  • Travel assignment in a hospital setting.

Required Credentials & Certifications

Certifications (Must be AHA unless otherwise noted)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly for Group A, every 2 years for Groups B-F)
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills or MOAB De-Escalation Course)
  • Influenza Vaccine (seasonal requirement; exemptions accepted with mask mandate)

Licenses & Verifications

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate Verification (upload required)
  • Driver's License/State ID (must be current and match address requirements)

Testing & Checklists

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (test results and signed attestation required)
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, 2 attempts allowed)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, 2 attempts allowed)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)

Health & Immunizations

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (preferred 2-step PPD or IGRA)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Fit Test: Required annually (preferred to be completed prior to start)
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Professional Requirements

  • Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (completed within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
  • Employment Verification (third-party verification for past 7 years, updated annually)
  • Education Verification (within 90 days of start, updated if break in service > 90 days)
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (document on agency letterhead with start/end dates)

Additional Information

  • On-site portion of CPI/MOAB High Risk training to be completed at orientation (optional)
  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding)
  • Post-assignment Hiring Manager Evaluation (optional)
  • Legal documentation of name change (optional)

This position requires thorough onboarding and compliance with Ascension Health’s credentialing, testing, and health requirements to ensure competency and safety in the Emergency Room setting.
