Travel RN Medical/Surgical Position
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Travel RN position in a medical/surgical specialty.
- Facility is part of a large hospital system in Wichita, KS.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified.
- Nursys Verification: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start. Disciplinary actions require additional documentation.
- Current Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Driver's License/State ID: Must be valid, not expired, and address must match licensing requirements.
Required Training & Competencies
- Ascension Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly. Minimum 80% score required.
- Ascension EKG Exam: Must pass with at least 80%, two attempts allowed.
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Completion of Cerner system training and test.
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire education modules.
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Onsite onboarding required.
- MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training: Required certification for moderate risk situations.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA: TB testing required within 30 days prior to start; annual TB questionnaire.
- Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire: Required if applicable.
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
Professional Requirements
- Ascension Profile: Resume or professional profile required.
- Professional References: At least two professional references prior to first assignment.
- Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender check; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
- Employment Verification: Third-party verification for past seven years; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
- Education Verification: Verification of relevant education within 90 days of start; official transcripts required if verification fails.
- Confirmation of Assignment: Documentation of assignment dates on agency letterhead.
- Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System): Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
Optional / Additional Information
- Some checklists and evaluations may be required or optional depending on unit or assignment specifics.
- Post-assignment evaluations and legal documentation (e.g., name change) may be requested.
This position requires thorough compliance with hospital system onboarding, credentialing, and health requirements to ensure readiness for assignment start.
