Job Opportunity: Travel RN Medical/Surgical

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Every other weekend
  • No on-call required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Ascension-specific certifications and competencies including:
    • Ascension Color Vision (updated every 3 years)
    • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; updated yearly)
    • NIH Certification (Group A yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
    • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score required, updated as new editions released)
    • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
    • Ascension Cerner Test-Out

Onboarding & Training Requirements

  • Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (done onsite)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip training (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Fit Test: Annual, preferred prior to start (specific mask types required)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 30 days prior to start
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccine doses (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, includes 12 specified drugs, with MRO review if applicable

Professional Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID (must not be expired and address must match licensing requirements)
  • Resume/Profile submission
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (updated annually or after break in service > 90 days)
  • EPLS check within 90 days of start (rerun if break in service > 90 days)
  • Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days prior to start)
  • Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and updates with extensions
  • Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually or after break in service > 90 days)

Optional

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader)
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment)
  • Legal documentation of name change (if applicable)

This position requires strict adherence to Ascension Health’s credentialing, health, and onboarding standards to ensure compliance and readiness for assignment.
