Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Antioch, California
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Critical Care)

Job Overview
The Critical Care Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. The role requires critical thinking, scientific judgment, leadership, and delegation of patient care priorities. The nurse will provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
Requirements
Licenses & Certifications:
- California RN License (CA RN License)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Certification)
Preferred Certifications/Skills:
- IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- Impella
- PIRRT (Prolonged Intermittent Renal Replacement Therapy)
Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years ICU experience required
- Travel nursing experience required
Work Schedule:
- Every other weekend required
- On-call as needed based on census
- Must be able to work Christmas (per manager requirement)
Floating:
- May float to Telemetry units depending on ICU census and need
Job Responsibilities
- Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients
- Utilize nursing process and clinical judgment for safe delivery of care
- Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education
- Delegate patient care tasks based on staff education and experience
- Supervise and direct assigned personnel
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
- Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment history verification for 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
- References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some Telemetry units
- ICU RNs at some locations may be required to take an EKG exam onsite after start

- Candidate must review and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including:

- Overpayment Refund Policy
- Conflict of Interest Policy
- TB Screening Questionnaire (within 90 days of start, renewed annually)
- Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
- Religious accommodation forms if applicable
Additional Notes
- Must be able to work Christmas as per manager's requirement
- Floating to Telemetry units may be required based on census
- All certifications must be verified and valid as per facility requirements
- Background checks and health documents have specific expiration and renewal requirements
- Religious exemptions for vaccines and facial hair (PAPR) are handled on a case-by-case basis with required documentation
