Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Job Summary

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions appropriately.
  • Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Follow physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Credentials and Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Current certification, renewed every 4 years
  • NIH Certification - Group A updated yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion - Completed prior to start
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out - Completion required
  • Ascension Specialty Exam - Minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
  • Ascension Core Competencies - Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly
  • Ascension EKG Exam - Minimum 80% passing score, updated as required
  • Ascension Color Vision - Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen - Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
  • Fit Test - Required annually, preferred prior to start
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion - Completed at orientation (optional but recommended)

Licenses and Verifications

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Driver’s License/State ID - Must be current and valid
  • Ascension Education Verification - Completed within 90 days prior to start
  • Ascension Employment Verification - Third-party verification for past 7 years
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check - Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
  • Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) - Run within 90 days prior to start

Immunizations and Health Requirements

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required prior to start; TB Questionnaire updated annually
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Additional Requirements

  • Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background (no filters or alterations)
  • Completion of onboarding requirements and attestations
  • Ascension Skills Checklist - Clinical skills verification completed within one year of start and updated annually
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Resume/Profile submission required
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and updates for extensions

Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a stressful environment with minimal supervision
  • Critical thinking and decisive judgment skills essential
