OR RN Travel Assignment - Grand Island, Nebraska

Position Overview

• Role: Traveling OR Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Grand Island, Nebraska
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Department: Operating Room (OR)
• Facility Type: Hospital in central Nebraska

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Experience & Skills

• Ability to circulate in ortho, general, urology, neuro, and ENT preferred; scrubbing experience is a plus
• Must be well-versed in all surgical procedures across multiple service lines (neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic, GYN, general surgery, DaVinci robotics)
• Experience with neuro cases (3's and 4's) required
• Staff must be flexible and able to handle a varied daily surgical schedule
• Must pass a 90% score on an open book skills exam during orientation (resources provided)

Work Environment & Team

• 7 OR suites and 2 Endoscopy suites
• Common patient populations: adults, geriatrics, pediatrics, obstetrics
• Charge nurse present on each shift (charge nurse takes assignment)
• OR techs available
• EMR system: EPIC
• Core staff have long tenure with strong teamwork and commitment to safety

Scheduling & Call Requirements

• Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 5 days per week
• On-call: 1 weeknight per week
• Weekend on-call: every 5th or 6th weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
• Holiday on-call: rotating schedule

Additional Requirements & Policies

• Must have a valid driver’s license at time of application (used to verify candidate is outside a 50-mile radius)
• Radius Rule: Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius and may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
• Floating may be required to pre/post-op, PACU (if trained), and ER for trauma cases
• Scrub color and dress code provided by the facility
• Orientation: 1 week of unit/department-specific OR orientation
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals
