    RN-NICU Job Opportunity - Bakersfield, California

    Position Overview

    • Provide independent nursing care to acutely ill neonatal patients under the supervision of nurse leadership.
    • Perform nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
    • Practice in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and California Nurse Practice Act.
    • Create a compassionate, patient- and family-centered care environment.
    • Collect, document, and interpret patient data; identify physiological and psychosocial risk factors.
    • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
    • Prioritize nursing actions based on assessment data and clinical judgment.
    • Manage rapidly changing patient conditions and activate emergency protocols as needed.
    • Coordinate care activities with nurses, physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers.
    • Adhere to infection control policies, medication administration procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
    • Participate in staff meetings, professional governance, and ongoing education.
    • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, nursing scope of practice, and professional standards.
    • Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills specific to neonatal intensive care.

    Contract Length

    • Approximately 13 weeks (88 days rounded to 13 weeks).

    Requirements

    • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience.
    • Experience with Cerner EMR system.
    • Valid and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
    • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
    • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Must meet all health requirements designated by the employer.
    • Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, medical terminology, instruments, equipment, and medication effects.
    • May require additional certificates of competency depending on assignment.
