Registered Nurse (CICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Start Date: 12/23/2025
Shift: 3x12 hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
  • Patient Population:
    • Sepsis
    • ARDS
    • Renal failure
    • Heart failure
    • Pre-VAD workups
    • Alcohol withdrawal
    • Overdose
    • Multi-organ failure
    • Post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management
    • Respiratory failure/shock
    • CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, Impella
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2 (occasional 1:1 based on acuity)
  • Unit Size: 16 beds
  • Locals not accepted (must be over 75 miles from facility)
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Must be available for holiday coverage
  • NY nursing license required and must be in hand before start (no exceptions)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)
  • PALS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable, as required)
  • NRP (as required)
  • TNCC (as required)
  • EFM (as required)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (as required, annual update)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • State License Verification (Primary Source within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start)
  • Tech Cert Verification (if applicable within 30 days of start)

Required Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
  • HHS/OIG check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
  • Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
  • Transcript/Diploma if education verification not on file
  • Employment application
  • Work history verification (at least 2 past employments verified)
  • References (2 within 3 years, required for Aya candidates only)

Health & Compliance Requirements (Must be completed within 5 days of contract signing)

  • Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
  • Fit mask test (within 1 year, updated annually)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year) or TB questionnaire annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (Surface AB positive titer or completed series or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening (within 30 days of start if booked within 30 days)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline 12/3)
  • Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
  • COVID vaccination documentation preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Completion of facility-specific modules (approx. 4-6 hours) prior to start
  • New York State-specific checks:
    • Sex Offender Registry Search (within 30 days of start)
    • Medicaid Exclusion List check (within 3 months of start and monthly)
    • Fingerprinting and disciplinary action search may be required depending on unit

Notes

  • This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment length.
  • Candidates must be willing to work nights and every other weekend.
  • Holiday coverage availability is mandatory.
  • Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this role.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
