    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Crescent City, California

    Unit: 10-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit


    Job Description

    • Provide direct and indirect nursing care in an acute care setting, focusing mainly on adult to geriatric patients, but may include pediatrics.
    • Manage patient and family experience using critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and nursing judgment.
    • Utilize nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to address physiological, psychosocial, safety, learning, and self-care needs.
    • Manage care of assigned patients and direct ancillary staff activities.
    • Collaborate with nursing peers, physicians, and allied support services to provide individualized, goal-directed care from admission to discharge.

    Experience & Skills

    • Minimum 1 year experience preferred in acute healthcare setting.
    • 1 year experience preferred in acute rehab care setting.

    Licensure & Certifications Required

    • California Registered Nurse (CA-RN) license.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC).
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or ARC).
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.

    Contract Length

    • 13 weeks (interpreted as 13 weeks).

    Background Checks & Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
    • FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
    • Sex Offender Search required within 90 days of start.
    • Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
    • Various state and federal compliance screenings as applicable.

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work).
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
    • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually.
    • Immunity or vaccination proof for:
      • Rubeola (Measles)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
      • Varicella
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30).
    • Color blind exam if applicable (in-person only).
    • Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).

    Competency & Skills Verification

    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
    • Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit.

    Documentation & Orientation

    • Must review and sign facility-specific documents including:
      • Job description
      • Standards of Business Conduct
      • Vendor Training (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
      • Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
      • Overpayment Refund Policy (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
      • General Regulatory Orientation for Contracted Workers
      • TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
      • Request for Religious Accommodation Form if applicable (for vaccine or PAPR exemptions)

    Employment History & References

    • Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps.
    • Employment verification for up to 7 years required.
    • 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates.

    Additional Notes

    • Candidates with religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific accommodation forms and receive approval.
    • Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures may require PAPR training.
    • Candidates must comply with all background, health, and competency requirements prior to start.
