Nursing Contract Opportunity - Sitka, Alaska

Job Description

  • Must have an active Alaska RN license at time of application.
  • Must have current Flu vaccination.
  • Responsible for active management of patients, collaborating with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to establish individualized medical goals.
  • Utilize problem-solving, critical thinking, and anticipatory skills to meet patient and provider needs promptly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate patient referrals to Surgery/Specialty Clinics, ensuring all referral information is complete and tracking progress and outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary clinical contact for patient care and care coordination, proactively identifying and resolving delays or obstacles.
  • Perform staff nursing duties including assessment, documentation, patient education, and administering medications/therapies.
  • Maintain annual competencies including safety and infection control requirements.
  • Promote effective nursing staff relationships and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members across departments and participate in team and clinic improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to provide comprehensive health services.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED

Experience

  • At least 1 year of case management experience

Licensure & Certification

  • Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the nursing process and ability to apply it in practice
  • Customer service principles
  • Safety and infection control principles
  • Skills in assessment, anticipation of needs, and data collection
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with willingness to teach when appropriate
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to maintain good working relationships
  • Willingness to ask for help when facing new or challenging situations
  • Ability to perform nursing duties using theory-based nursing practice models, evidence-based practices, and shared governance within a multidisciplinary team
